Book Review #2: Revived

Revived is about a girl who is a part of organization with a vaccine that can bring someone back from the dead, hence the title "Revived". The main character is Daisy and the book starts off with Daisy getting stung by a bee, and she's highly allergic and she ends up dying. Every single time Daisy is revived they have to move towns so no one will get suspicious. Daisy has died a total of five times. When Daisy movies to Omaha she develops two friends, Audrey and Matt, and makes sure she stays alive so she won't have to move. Daisy's curiosity unfolds a huge secret that the Revived organization is trying to keep secret and puts her life in danger. Her friend Audrey is keeping a huge secret as well.

There's a lot of suspense in this book. In the beginning it's relaxing because you're still absorbing all the information about this drug that brings people back to life. And then right when everything is going good the author smacks you in the face with a loop. And then a little after that you get smacked again. Theoretically speaking of course. If you literally get smacked by the author you should get yourself some medication. Anyways this book is really great, I enjoyed it.

The excerpt I'm choosing to share with you is to show how descriptive the author is. This particular scene is when Daisy is in her English class for the first time at her new school, and this really attractive male walks into the class and sits down. (Pg. 34)

"He casually sweeps the front of his shaggy hair to the side with his thumb. The back of his hair flips out from behind his ears in that adorable way that makes it impossible to tell whether he needs a haircut or just got one. He's got dark eyebrows--the kind that sexy TV villains have-- and almond-shaped brown eyes that make him look like he has a secret. He's slouching ever so slightly in his faded green T-shirt and worn jeans, and he smiles at me in a way that looks...familiar."

I especially like this passage because it creates a very vivid image in your head. When reading this you can picture as if the character is sitting right in front of you. The author is like this throughout the entire book which helps keep you intrigued. Without the vast detail I don't believe the book would have kept my attention as much. With how the plot goes, the detail is very crucial.

Book Review #1: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer

I recently just finished this book and I'm very eager to start the second one. This book is part of a trilogy and the third book is coming out this year on November 4th of this year. I'm so excited and it's going to be torture waiting for it to come out. I was recommended to read this book and I love when people recommend books. So when I was told it was a great book I had to get it right away and I'm so glad I did.


The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer is about a senior in high school and she goes through a traumatic accident that kills three of her friends and she survives. The family packs up and moves to Florida to start a new life for Mara. Then bizarre things start to happen and Mara tries her hardest to remember the accident and everything starts to unravel before your eyes and it's amazing. And her new boyfriend is amazing and it's just amazing.

The writer is very descriptive with her writing and that's my favorite part when reading this novel or any novel really. I like to know everything the character is thinking and feeling. One of my favorite sections of the book is when Noah walks Mara to art class and decides to be a live model for the drawing class. The description the author uses on this scene really gives you an idea of their relationship.

"Noah's eyes held my face. I swallowed hard. The juxtaposition of him sitting in a room full of people while staring at no one but me was overwhelming. Something shifted inside of me at the intimacy of us, eyes locked amid the scraping of twenty graphite pencils on paper.


I shaded his face out of nothingness. I smudged the slope of his neck and darkened his delinquent mouth, while the lights accented the right angle of his jaw against the cloudy sky outside. I did not hear the bell. I did not hear the other students rise and leave the room. I did not even notice that Noah no longer sat at the stool."  


The only downfall of this book is it is quite confusing in the beginning of the book. You really have to pay attention otherwise details later revealed won't make sense and you'll be flipping back through the pages to reconnect all the dots. Other than that it leaves you sitting on the edge of your seat and are waiting for the next big thing to happen. The ending is just ugh and I really wish I could just spill the entire book out right now but I can't.

This book is paranormal and supernatural. Mara tends to see the ghosts of her dead friends and has what seems to be panic attacks but they're a lot more than just panic attacks. This book would be perfect for anyone into a thriller and romance. There's a lot of suspense and you'll be screaming for the next book at the end.

Forty Random Facts About Yours Truly

1. I have an unhealthy habit of reading too much rather than being a social butterfly.

2. I am the pickiest person you will ever meet when it comes to food. Some people tell me, "Oh you can't be that bad," or "Everyone's picky." 9/10 I hate almost everything you like.

3. The Naval Air Base in Lemoore, CA is where I was born. My mother was visiting her dad on base when she went into labor.

4. I dye my hair every couple of months. I do modeling for the Paul Mitchell Cosmetology School runway shows so I have to be flexible with it. A couple of years ago I dyed my hair white for a ice princess segment.

5. My lucky number is 7. Every sport I've played my jersey number was seven. I also seem to see the number seven in my daily life a lot more than any other number.

6. My favorite television series is Game of Thrones on HBO. Team Targaryen all the way!!

7. When I was younger my teachers always thought my older brother and I were twins. He's actually one year and six days older than me.

8. I just went to Disneyland and Universal for the first time ever this last summer! It was the most amazing thing I've ever experienced and can't wait to go back.

9. I have been to Canada and am saving up money to go to Europe after I graduate. I hope to travel and see most of the world.

10. I also have a little brother. He will be two on March 14, 2015. When he is 16 I will be 32. That's a big gap right there.

11. In middle school I was an athlete fanatic. I did volleyball, soccer, track, and cheer-leading. In track season I got injured and had three adhesions in my left thigh and was out for the rest of the season and missed volleyball try-outs for high school. I never got back into after freshmen year.

12. My birthday was suppose to be on Christmas but I was born two days before. I've never been to school on my birthday because of winter break.

13. When I was one when I fell down on a fireplace and had to have eight staples put into my head.

14. My dad died when I was 13 years old.

15. I started talking at six months old and would never be quiet after that.

16. I'm the only girl grand-child in my family. I grew up around boys my whole life. I don't think I started wearing girl clothes until the second grade.

17. When I was in the third grade a girl threw a rock at my face and broke my nose.

18. My hidden talent is I'm extremely good at video games.

19. It's a little self-indulgent but I've wanted glasses because I think I look good in them. Even though I have perfect vision.

20. I absolutely refuse to answer phone calls from numbers I don't know. It's a habit I need to get out of especially if colleges decide to call me instead of other forms of communication.

21. Embarrassingly enough, I like to put on my favorite playlists and dance around my room pretending like I've danced my whole life. I'm a terrible dancer and you will never, ever see me dance.

22. My mom is my biggest hero. Lots of crappy things have happened in her life and somehow she has overcome them all and take care of my brothers and I. I hope to be as courageous and hopeful as she is.

23. I have a bad habit of getting into a game app for a couple of months and then never touch it after that. But then I never delete it because I tell myself I'll play more of it.

24. I have a bad habit of biting my nails.

25. I love to wear high heels. I find them very comfortable. I wish I wasn't so tall so I could wear them more often and that it was socially acceptable to wear them to school.

26. Any furniture store I love. I like to envision my "future home" and pick out all the furniture for my house and plan non existent things. You can say I 'm really excited to move out and decorate how I want to.

27. I'm a perfectionists when it comes to certain items. I can never seem to have my room cleaned for more than two weeks but I can't have anything on my dresser out of place.

28. My favorite genre of movies is horror. I love the adrenaline rush that they give you.

29. I always think the worst happens when I get bad news about family or when someone is late.

30. I have a huge fear of home invasions. One Christmas my mom and dad thought it would be funny to scare my brother and I. So while we were in our basement game room, we heard someone come through the front door and started to ransack the house and so my brother and I hid under the bed and it was our parents the entire time. I did not find this experience funny.

31. I'm a huge believer in the supernatural and ghosts. My house is currently haunted and I have more than enough stories to prove it.

32. I dislocated my knee during a dance rehearsal for a school musical.

33. When I was younger my brother stuffed cracker crumbs into the barrel of one of his toy guns and shot me in the eye. I was so convinced that I was blind for five minutes and he felt terrible.

34. I have to sleep with five pillows every night. If I don't I can't get a full nights rest and will toss and turn all night long.

35. I have a small scar on my face that is barely visible from my dog attacking me while asleep.

36. My celebrity crush is Robert Downey Jr. or Johnny Depp even though they are both really old..

37. I have a terrible fear of clowns. When I was a kid I watched the scary movie I.T. and couldn't see a clown without screaming for dear life. I'm not as dramatic these days but I will look away and walk faster than normal to get away.

38. I'm a very crafty person. My boyfriend's mom has a craft room and it's amazing. I could sit in there for hours and keep myself busy. I plan to have my own craft room when I'm older.

39. This post has taken me a hour now to create.

40.  My second worst fear is lightning. When I was younger I was almost struck my lightning while trying to save my dog from the outside. The flash was so bright my vision didn't clear up for 2 minutes before I was able to see again.
